What curses are and how to get rid of them

The subject of curses raises many important questions. Many people searching for answers to these questions have turned to fortune-tellers, mediums and all kinds of occultists However, people relying on occult powers cannot gain protection against the evil eye. Neither can they defend against the evil eye or destroy generational curses. Let's look at what a curse is and where does it come from?

Blessing and curse are two sides intertwined evoking the spiritual laws of sowing and reaping. What a person sows, he will reap. Curse is a consequence of sin and the wages of sin, which a man gets at birth. Because of the disobedience of the first man Adam, all the earth and its inhabitants were put under a curse (Genesis 3:17-19). Even sinful man began putting curses on fellow men. As righteous as Noah was, even he cursed. He cursed his son Ham's descendants for the fact that he put on display the nakedness of his father (Genesis 12:3). The story of Noah tells us that a curse is often passed down through mere words. People can also use various objects to place a curse on someone: photos, needles, salt, etc. On the other hand, it is important to know that neither charms nor magic stones, nor any signs and symbols are able to protect you. Only the blood of Jesus Christ - the Son of God which was shed on the cross for every sinner, has the power to overcome witchcraft and evil words.

Curses happened before God instituted the covenant of law. With the installing of the law, curses  multiplied. If a person fulfills the law, he will be blessed. If his performance does  not satisfy the law’s demands, he is damned. Therefore, a blessing is a reward for performance of the law and a curse is a consequence of  a violation of the law or failure to perform it. Interestingly, the Bible refers to the curse four times more often than to blessing; maybe because man violated the law more often than he performed it.

Violation of the law or sin opens the door to the devil, giving him a right to a certain area of the person’s life. However, the curse comes not only because of his own personal sin, but also because of the sins he inherited from his ancestral generations.

This is confirmed by a passage from the book of Exodus:

"And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.” [Exodus 34:6-7].

How do you know  if your life is filled with blessings or curses? Here are the main signs of the presence of curses: mental illness, schizophrenia, mental disorder, ulcer, chronic illness, poverty and terminal debts, frequent accidents, hereditary diseases, infertility and miscarriage, depression, frequent and repeated failures, divorce, and shortened life span.

In the foregoing, we found that curse came into the world through the disobedience of one man - Adam. The justification from the curse of the law came into the world through one man - Jesus Christ (Romans 5:12-17). His death Jesus has redeemed us (Romans 6:14). On the cross there was a legal exchange. Jesus  took upon himself all the punishment we deserved to receive, reclaimed all the blessings God wanted for us, and gave us all what He got. The Son of God fulfilled the whole law by Himself, and earned the law’s blessings to be shared with us.

Thanks to God that today we have the opportunity to get rid of curses and live a blessed life. We only need to recognize curses, to repent for our sins, identify who opened the door to these curses and destroy their powerful stronghold upon us, our children and their next generations thereafter.
